2025: A Year of Growing Together at Security Bank & Trust Co.

Posted on January 7, 2026 by Jalyn Macy

EVENTS

As we close the books on 2025, one thing is clear: this year was defined by growth, connection, and community. Security Bank & Trust Co. is a locally owned community bank serving individuals, families, farmers, and businesses across Minnesota, with a strong footprint in McLeod and Carver Counties and 21 convenient locations. Our focus is simple; personal relationships, local decision-making, and financial solutions that grow with you through every stage of life and business. Whether you’re opening your first account, expanding your company, or planning for the future, we’re here to guide you every step of the way. At Security Bank, we don’t measure success solely by numbers; we measure it by relationships built, businesses supported, and communities strengthened. And in 2025, we’re proud of how far we’ve come, together.

Banking Local in a Changing Economy

2025 brought economic shifts, evolving technology, and new challenges for families and businesses alike. Through it all, Security Bank remained focused on what matters most: people-first, community banking.

While national banks continued to centralize decision-making, we leaned into our local leadership model. Our bankers live where they work, understand the local economy, and are empowered to make decisions quickly, helping customers navigate uncertainty with confidence. That local approach came to life when a lender from our Hamburg team helped a client secure $1 million in construction-to-permanent financing to build a new early learning center in the southwest metro, creating a lasting impact for families and educators in the community. In another example, a local Isanti County lender supported a growing business with a $1.45 million commercial real estate loan, allowing them to purchase their own industrial warehouse and invest in their future. These aren’t just transactions, they’re proof of what happens when banking decisions stay close to home.

For a deeper look at why local decision-making matters, explore our related blog on why banking local strengthens Minnesota communities, as well as insights shared by trusted financial institutions highlighting the economic impact of community banks.

This commitment to banking local allowed us to support:

  • Small businesses managing cash flow, growth, and succession planning

  • Families buying homes, saving for the future, and building generational wealth

  • Municipal and nonprofit partners investing back into their communities

Supporting Small Businesses Across Minnesota

Small business banking remained at the heart of Security Bank in 2025. From startups to multi-generation companies, we partnered with local businesses to deliver flexible lending solutions, lines of credit designed for seasonal and cyclical cash flow needs, and strategic guidance from experienced community bankers. This hands-on approach was exemplified when a Minnetonka-based lender helped a client secure a $10 million loan to acquire three daycare centers across the metro area, supporting long-term growth while expanding access to early childhood education for local families.

Rather than offering one-size-fits-all products, our approach centered on understanding each business’s goals, because when local businesses thrive, our communities thrive too. Throughout 2025, that commitment earned Security Bank recognition as one of Minnesota’s top-ranked banks, highlighting our financial strength, customer experience, and deep-rooted community involvement. We were also named the Chosen Business Bank and Commercial Lender in Minnesota, a distinction that reflects our hands-on expertise in business banking, customized lending solutions, and long-term partnership mindset. Together, these honors reinforce what matters most to us, helping Minnesota businesses grow with confidence.

We expanded on these strategies throughout the year in our blog, including posts focused on cash flow management, planning for growth, and navigating economic uncertainty as a small business. We also regularly share external small business resources from organizations such as the SBA and Federal Reserve to help business owners stay informed.

High-Tech When Needed, High-Touch When It Matters

In 2025, customers continued to expect convenience without sacrificing personal service. Security Bank delivered both.

We enhanced digital banking tools to make everyday transactions easier, while maintaining the high-touch service our customers value. Whether it was a quick mobile deposit or an in-person conversation about long-term financial planning, we ensured customers never had to choose between technology and trust.

Topics like fraud awareness, secure digital banking, and financial education were highlighted throughout the year on our blog, paired with external consumer-protection resources to help customers bank confidently.

Community Reinvestment That Makes an Impact

Being a community bank means reinvesting locally, and in 2025, Security Bank doubled down on that commitment through our Local Return Initiative. Our Local Return Initiative reflects a simple belief: when customers choose to bank local, those dollars should flow back into the communities they call home.

Throughout the year, this initiative supported local economic development projects, community organizations, nonprofits, and financial education efforts for individuals and small businesses. In 2025, our team donated and volunteered for a local toy drive in Waconia, helping over 500 families, contributed 625 toys to Toys for Tots, provided Christmas presents to 45 families through our Family Pathways Giving Tree, and donated $40,000 to the New Pathways Food Shelf in Cambridge, Minnesota.

Through employee volunteerism, local partnerships, and strategic reinvestment across McLeod County, Carver County, and surrounding communities, we continued to demonstrate what it means to be a community-first Minnesota bank.

Full Circle & Four Generations of Trust

One of the most meaningful trends we saw in 2025 was customers returning to Security Bank, or choosing us for the first time, because of trust built over generations.

We’re honored to serve families and businesses who have banked with us for decades, as well as new customers beginning their financial journeys. That full-circle connection, serving four generations in some cases, is a responsibility we don’t take lightly.

Looking Ahead to 2026

As we move into 2026, Security Bank & Trust Co. is energized by the opportunities ahead. We’ll continue to focus on deepening relationships with existing customers, welcoming new customers seeking personalized, ethical banking, expanding our reach while staying rooted in local decision-making, and investing in technology that enhances—not replaces—human connection.

Our mission remains the same: to grow alongside our customers and communities, today and for generations to come.

If you’re looking for resources to help manage your finances or grow your business, Security Bank & Trust Co. is here to help. Our Business Banking team partners with local businesses of all sizes, from helping a Wayzata company secure a $10 million working capital line of credit to supporting startups with flexible lending solutions.

For municipalities, our Municipal Banking services provide tailored financial guidance and local decision-making expertise. Farmers and agricultural businesses can benefit from our Ag Lending solutions, like the $2 million farm operating loan we facilitated in Glencoe, helping operations thrive and grow.

Our Treasury Management services simplify cash flow and payments for businesses, while our Online & Mobile Banking tools make managing accounts, paying bills, and accessing funds convenient, whether you’re at home, at work, or on the go.
