Choosing a CD term

A certificate of deposit pays a set rate for a set term. We offer terms of 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, 3 years and 5 years, plus the 39 Month Bump-Up. Most terms open with $1,000, and balances of $10,000 or more earn a higher rate. Interest is compounded and credited quarterly.

When a CD matures

This account will automatically renew. You will have a grace period of 10 calendar days after the maturity date to withdraw funds without a penalty. If you do not withdraw the funds, each renewal term will be for an identical term as the original term.

Taking money out early

A penalty may be imposed for withdrawals before maturity. How much depends on the term of the CD, as set out in the certificate of deposit disclosure.

The 39 Month Bump-Up CD

At your discretion, you may change the interest rate on this certificate once during the term. You may exercise this option by making a request via email to dp@security-banks.com, in writing to 735 11th Street E, Glencoe MN 55336, or in person at any branch. The interest rate and resulting annual percentage yield will change to the interest rate and annual percentage yield being offered by us on a new 39-month Bump-up certificate of deposit for the remainder of the term.

IRA and HSA CDs

Our 1, 2, 3 and 5 year CDs and the 39 Month Bump-Up also come as IRA CDs, with the same opening amounts. HSA CDs come in the same five terms and open with $10,000.

Savings, money market and checking

Savings, money market and Super Kids Savings pay by balance tier, so the rate depends on how much you keep in the account. Savings opens with $50, money market with $2,500, and Super Kids Savings, for savers 17 and under, with no minimum. To compare the accounts side by side, see personal checking and savings accounts.

Advantage, Premium and Gold Checking pay interest on personal accounts. For a business, Edge Checking and Non-Profit Checking pay interest; see business checking and savings. Cities, counties, townships and school districts use Public Funds Checking, covered with our municipal banking services.

Interest rates and annual percentage yield may change after opening. We may change the rate at any time.
