Voted best where we started

The national ratings compare us to banks in every state. These two asked the people who live here. They are reader votes run by the local papers, in the markets where our bankers live, and we won both in back to back years.

Best Bank, Best of Glencoe Area

The McLeod County Chronicle, 2024 and 2025

Our first office opened in Glencoe in 1935. Ninety years later the readers of the county paper voted us Best Bank in their Best of Glencoe Area awards, in two consecutive years. Two branches serve Glencoe today, one of them our corporate office.

Best Mortgage Lender, Best of Carver County

The Sun Patriot, 2024 and 2025

Two consecutive years voted the best mortgage lender in Carver County, by the people buying houses in Chaska, Waconia, Cologne, Hamburg, Mayer and New Germany. Our mortgage decisions are made here, which is usually what people mean when they say local.

What each of these actually measures

They measure different things, and knowing which is which tells you more than any single ranking does.

Financial condition

BauerFinancial rates capital, asset quality and profitability straight from regulatory filings, and gave us 5 stars, its Superior rating. Newsweek weighs profitability, risk exposure and stability alongside customer feedback. These two say the bank is sound. Current figures are in the annual report.

What customers report

WalletHub scores from customer reviews on its own platform. Twin Cities Business, the McLeod County Chronicle and the Sun Patriot are all decided by reader vote. Between them that is the opinion of businesses across Minnesota and of neighbors in Glencoe and Carver County, which are two different endorsements and we hold both.

Growth

The Inc. 5000 is verified revenue growth over three years. It placed us at No. 845 in America, on a list where banks are rare. The Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal's Fast 50 measures the same thing across the Twin Cities and named us a 2026 honoree. In 2025 the same publication ranked the 50 fastest-growing banks in the Twin Cities on five-year deposit growth and placed us No. 3, which we wrote about at the time.

Where these were earned

Security Bank & Trust Co. bankers at a Minnesota community event

Security Bank & Trust Co. opened in Glencoe in 1935 and now runs 21 branches across 18 Minnesota communities: Brownton, Cambridge, Chaska, Cologne, Eden Prairie, Glencoe, Hamburg, Isanti, Mayer, Minnetonka, New Auburn, New Germany, North Oaks, Plato, Ramsey, Waconia, Wayzata and Winsted.

Every lending and trust decision described on this page is made by people working in those communities, not in another state.
