Spotlight – The Refuge Network

Posted on November 28, 2020 by Security Bank & Trust Co.

Isanti Community Spotlight:

Security Bank & Trust Company is an active community volunteer and financial supporter. Through our efforts in Isanti, MN (Flagship Bank Minnesota/Landmark Community Bank/First State Bank of Isanti legacy), we have crossed paths with many organizations. We believe that each of our residents and our nonprofit organizations make a profound impact on our community in their own way and it is the little things that drive the improvement of life. Brick by brick. Organization by organization. The overarching picture has been built by the everyday actions which results in a high quality of life. To build off this belief, we are doing a Community Spotlight on organizations making a difference in our communities.

Family Pathways - Formerly the Refuge Network – No one deserves to be abused

Young women with a nervous breakdown

Mission: Refuge Network is a multi-community organization whose primary purpose is to provide supportive services for people who are currently involved or have been involved in an abusive relationship. The Refuge Network believes that no one deserves to be abused and therefore seeks to bring an end to domestic violence.

Founded in 1986, it has remained responsive to the needs of people who find themselves in need of protection and safety from domestic violence.

In 2009, Refuge Network opened the Black Dog Hill Shelter. This shelter has served over 600 women and children as they sought safety. The Black Dog Hill shelter’s capacity can accommodate up to 15 women and children. In April 2014, Refuge Network joined forces with Family Pathways. Refuge Network, as a program of Family Pathways, will continue to be a vital resource for individuals experiencing domestic violence and sexual assault. Services will continue to include: crisis intervention, information and referral, advocacy, court assistance, hospital and law enforcement response, support groups, community education, mediation and paralegal services, men’s special programming and emergency shelter. These services cover Isanti, Chisago, and Kanabec counties.

Refuge Tree 2020

For many years, we have supported the Refuge Network with a Giving Tree located in our Isanti, MN branch. Each Christmas, the bank, its staff, and customers purchase gifts to benefit the children of the Refuge Network. It’s an event that we are proud to support and an impact that warms everyone’s hearts.

Over the years, Security Bank & Trust Company has been a proud partner of the Refuge. Whether it’s through staff flexibility in joining or sponsoring events, we place an emphasis on supporting organizations that support our community.
