Senior Banker / IRA Specialist - Wayzata

Yearly Salary: $41,000 - $51,000
The Senior Banker / IRA Specialist is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, managing client relationships, and driving sales of banking products and services. This role also includes mentoring, training, and coaching team members as needed to ensure excellent customer service and operational efficiency. The Senior Banker / IRA Specialist will play a key role in achieving branch sales goals and ensuring compliance with banking regulations and policies.
Responsibilities:
Personal Banker:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients by understanding their financial needs and providing tailored banking solutions.
- Act as a resource for staff at other locations for guidance and direction on account opening processes, documentation or general banking questions.
- Assists Retail Banking Leads with training and development in branch(s).
- In depth knowledge of IRA and proven experience handling IRA transactions including contributions, distributions, rollovers and compliance requirements.
- May be asked to record PTO for home branch location.
- Promote the bank’s culture and mission in the branch, set a positive mood and atmosphere.
- Create a working climate of teamwork in which personnel are motivated to develop their skills and abilities.
- Performs job accountabilities with a high level of accuracy and timeliness.
- Assist in problem-solving and resolving escalated customer issues in a professional and timely manner.
- Plays an active role in community affairs and organizations demonstrating the bank’s commitment to the community.
- Effectively develops bank relationships with new and existing customers.
- Opens new consumer and business accounts including checking, savings, certificates of deposit, individual retirement accounts and health savings accounts.
- Effectively respond to customer inquiries, either by telephone or in person, regarding account status or error resolution, products or services.
- Carry out the initiatives of the Board of Directors, senior management within your branch.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Teller Responsibilities:
- Perform all customer transactions efficiently and accurately.
- Assist with any questions other members of the team may have. Onsite or at other locations.
- Cross-sell bank products which include cashier checks and money orders.
- Perform wire transfers and stop payments upon customer request.
- Perform proof, imaging, and capture functions.
- Scan customer signature cards and filing.
- Process customer account transfers on the system.
- End of day closing procedures: balance cash drawer, verify accuracy of strapped currency, run system updates and close.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum two years’ related degree or four years’ job-related experience.
- High school diploma required.
- A minimum of two years’ Personal Banking experience is required.
- Teller experience is a plus although not required.
Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Conduct oneself with level of professionalism.
- Must be able to read, analyze and interpret industry journals and reports.
- Able to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients or vendors, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
- Proven ability to present information to groups or individuals in a confident and professional manner.
- Must be able to accurately calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions and percentages.
- The position requires the ability to assist tellers in check cashing policies and procedures.
- Assist personal bankers with day-to-day responsibilities and time management.
- Must be able to prioritize workload and complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Power Point, is required. Microsoft Outlook is helpful.
- Strong sales skills commensurate with knowledge and experience.
- Superior human relation skills.
- Ability to work effectively under deadlines and pressure.
- Self-motivated ability to work consistently and productively under minimal supervision.
