
Internal Auditor

Security Bank & Trust is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Internal Auditor to join our team! This position will be responsible for evaluating and improving the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management processes, and governance practices within the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Audit Planning & Execution: Helps to develop the annual audit schedule, based on risk assessment, ensuring that those areas with greatest potential risk receive appropriate audit attention. Conducts audits of various departments including operations, compliance, retail banking, lending, and information technology. Evaluates the effectiveness of internal processes and procedures.
- Documentation & Reports: Prepares audit work papers, ensures adequate documentation to support conclusions and provides effective and reasonable recommendations. Prepare clear and concise audit reports detailing findings, recommendations, and action plans. Communicates audit results to Audit Committee and Senior Management. Facilitates discussions through Audit Committee on identified issues.
- Compliance & Regulatory Oversight: Stays abreast of relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure the bank’s compliance. Provides ongoing guidance and support to ensure sustained compliance and operational efficiency.
- Risk Management: Completes various risk assessments as assigned; identify and analyze potential risks, providing recommendations for risk mitigation. Evaluates the effectiveness of risk management process and systems.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of related experience; thorough banking and compliance knowledge.
- Strong knowledge of internal control frameworks, risk assessment methodologies, and regulatory requirements (i.e. FDICIA).
- Possess strong written/verbal communication skills as well as excellent organizational/time management skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent skills in computer operation; including Microsoft Office product suite.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.
