HomeHelpMN was a federally funded COVID-19 relief program that helped Minnesota homeowners who had fallen behind on their mortgage and other housing costs. It opened in May 2022 and stopped accepting applications on July 7, 2023, after nearly all of its $109 million in federal funding was committed. This article is kept as a historical reference.
HomeHelpMN was Minnesota's Homeowner Assistance Fund, administered by Minnesota Housing. It assisted homeowners at risk of default, foreclosure, or displacement because of COVID-19-related financial hardship. Assistance was a grant, not a loan, and did not need to be repaid. The maximum was $35,000 per household when the program opened and was later raised to $50,000.

The program opened in May 2022. The original application deadline was June 17, 2022, and it was extended more than once as funding allowed. The final deadline was 5 p.m. on July 7, 2023. The program is closed and is not accepting new applications.
