Binghamton, NY, United States (4E Sports) - Erie Community College freshman defenseman Brandon Day is facing unspecified charges after he attacked a referee in Sunday's National Junior College Athletic Association championship game.

According to SUNY Broome police, Day was in the process of being charged after taking him into its custody for attacking a referee with 39 seconds remaining in the game.

Erie Community College was trailing Dakota College of Bottineau, 7-4, when Day charged from the penalty box and knocked the referee to the ice before two other officials wrestled Day to the ice.

Officials decided to end at that point, giving Bottineau its 10th title.

It was not clear from video of the incident what motivated Day to attack the game official.
