London, England, United Kingdom (4E Sports) - Striker Alexis Sanchez scored twice as Arsenal snapped a two-match losing streak with a 2-0 win over Hull City Saturday at Emirates Stadium.

Sanchez put Arsenal ahead with a close-range goal in the 34th minute and made it a two-goal game with a stoppage-time penalty kick to pad his tally to a league-best 17 goals.

With the victory, Arsenal moved to third, nine points behind leaders Chelsea while Hull remained in relegation with 20 points.

"As you said it was more about the mathematics than about the brilliance because we had absolutely to win today," said Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

"Physically they are strong, they are organized, they have a good spirit and technically they are good as well," Wenger said of Hull City.

Meanwhile, Sadio Mane scored twice as Liverpool ended a five-match winless run with a 2-0 triumph over Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield .

Mane, who missed most of January on Africa Cup of Nations duty, opened scoring in the 16th minute and added a second two minutes later to lift Liverpool to its first league win of the year.

The win put Liverpool in 4th place, just one point behind the Spurs.

In other matches, Manchester United blanked Watford, 2-0; Stoke City edged Crystal Palace, 1-0; Southampton crushed Sunderland, 4-0; Middlesbrough and Everton played to a scoreless tie while West Ham United and West Bromwich Albion settled for a 2-2 draw.
