San Diego, CA, United States (4E Sports) - Former world No. 1 Tiger Woods announced that he will shift golf clubs from Nike to TaylorMade this year.

"After several months of testing and all brands to choose from, the choice is clearly @TaylorMadeGolf . Proud to join the family!" Woods said on his Twitter account.

Woods made the shift after Nike decided to stop manufacturing golf equipment last year, making him a free agent. He had used Nike golf equipment since turning pro in 1996.

Late last year, Woods signed an endorsement deal to play Bridgestone golf balls.

However, Woods is expected to wear Nike clothing as he is still under contract with the company.

Woods is set to play at the Farmers Insurance Open this week at Torrey Pines. He will be paired with world No. 1 Jason Day and No. 3 Dustin Johnson.
